(not sure what happened to the color but I like how it came out - taken in 2012, he stopped looking like this - lost weight, body mass - about 2 weeks ago)
First - since Lord Shiloh has been sick so much lately, I almost forgot to put up the header for his birthday month - March.
Now, not so good news. In my last post I talked about our local vet visit and the results from that which mainly involved the enlarged liver and fluid around Lord Shiloh's lungs - I was grateful there was no cancer diagnosis since I suspected that. After our visit yesterday at the Kansas State University Animal Health Center, it confirmed that what I had feared all along - actually worse.
I am glad Lord Shiloh adored the vet student who helped so much. Ok, so while the aspirate bx. still was 100% inconclusive, the blood work suggested otherwise. The ultrasound showed multiple nodules in the liver and spleen. Shiloh has several lymph glands that are swollen as well as an enlarged adrenal gland. The chest x-ray showed fluid around the lungs. One of the high readings on the blood work involved the kidneys which was a change just from this past Saturday at our local vet. We got all the results except for the aspirate bx. while we were still there. The vet called my sis' cell when we were on our way home with the results of the aspirate bx but it ended up going to her voice mail - we did get the inconclusive - it could not be 100% conclusive but all the other signs point to metastatic neoplasia. She said if I had any questions to call her on Wednesday which I plan on doing. I was told that he might have a couple more days - the cancer is too aggressive and too widespread for any treatment.
He is finally sleeping again - has been up and down all night.
And I need to go for now..........

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry. My pack and I send our prayers. I'm a hound person myself, although I currently have four rescued Treeing Walker Coonhounds, I grew up with a Beagle and have had others since. I figure when I'm too old to handle the Walker hounds, I'll be back to having Beagles. I love them. I wish I could give Shiloh a big hug. Praying because miracles DO happen.
ReplyDeleteHolding you all close to our hearts. We are beyond heartbroken, we had practically just met you and you were so kind to send Dakota a birthday greeting. This just isn't fair. I agree that miracles do happen and I am praying too xoxoxo DakotasDen
