#RememberMeThursday with Miss Maizie

Mom Kim here - linking to the
#RememberMeThursdar Blog Hop and
wanted to thank
&
for hosting this blog hop that is
bringing awareness to Pet Adoption.

For those who have not heard this story before-

When Miss Maizie Became a Kansas Pup
In late April of 2017 a Facebook friend-
some of you may know "Flea"-
first contacted me about a Beagle in need of a new home, asking
me if I knew of someone in the Tulsa area who would be looking for a young, female Beagle?
I had been looking for a female Beagle puppy and in fact, at that time I had a tentative adoption contract on one in another state.
HOWEVER - there was already a contract on that pup waiting to be approved and as luck would have it,
that first contract WAS approved.  So there was some more discussion then when I saw this picture-
I knew I had made the right choice.
By the age of 8 months, Lucy whom I renamed
Miss Maizie - a pup getting a new start in a new home deserves a new name - knew how to use those beautiful eyes of hers.
Ok, so I didn't go to a shelter to adopt Miss Maizie but I have very few doubts that she would have ended up there or worse.
And I have no doubts at all that I did rescue her.
Even though her first family took good care of her, because of  their family situation, they eventually became desperate to rehome her.  Lucy/Miss Maizie knew some basic commands and was even potty trained very well but she had that unruly Beagle puppy side that I knew what to do with - that side of her is what could have landed her in a shelter.  After Flea agreed to bring the pup to meet me and my sis in southern Kansas -
Miss Maizie moved here to Topeka with me'n Lady Shasta.

Now for those who may be new since then, here are the
first two posts from when Miss Maizie first moved in.

I also want to thank
for first reminding me of this most impawtent event.

Caturday Art with a Lady Shasta update

I was going to ask Lady Shasta if
she wanted to do this week's installment of the
Caturday Art Blog Hop but as you can tell she is still
recovering from her surgery to remove a mass
from her tummy and was not at all interested.
So using a couple of pictures I took of her recovery,
I went ahead a did this week's entry.
This is a picture I took last nite of her sleeping it off.
Lunapic has become my fav free photo editting website-
both of these pics were done using Lunapic.
This first one was done using the Fairy Effect.
This morning she was a bit more alert and hungry.
However when I used the Color Pen Art, it really highlighted
how her eyes showed that she was still feeling some of
effects of her ordeal.
Getting a little bit later start on this post then I had hoped but
still wanted to do something, sometime for the
Caturday Art Blog Hop hosted by
Athena Cat Goddess

The best laid plans ....(Mom Kim)

I keep telling myself that when things finally fall into a routine then I will do more blog hops.
STILL WAITING!!!!!!!!!

This Friday, 9/14, Lady Shasta is scheduled to
have a lump removed from her tummy-

For several months it was just there - no changes.
I was doing a watch & wait since she was eating really good &
her behavior didn't change.
In the past few days the lump has changed - bigger but
nothing else about her has changed.
There is a small part of me that
wants to send it off for pathology however
it won't change my treatment plans for her even tho
her vet is pretty sure it is a Mast Cell Tumor.
Lady Shasta will be 12 years old in less than a month and
I'm just going to bring her home to enjoy her life
the only way she has known for years.
I have very vivid bad memories of forcing meds down
Angel Shiloh after he stopped eating most everything I tried-
I didn't know a dog that was so sick and so thin could
struggle so hard.
I won't do that to Lady Shasta - she doesn't deserve that.

Please send prayers and POTP for my Lady.
~Mom Kim~
