So I will be making more of an effort to brush her teeth and also switching to only biscuits or crunchy-type treats and those that are healthy or organic. The treats that are more soft are out except for those healthy training treats that are small. The B-bratz are already eating a good quality kibble - we are in the process of switching back to Castor and Pollux since Taste of the Wild is on the recall list. And of course I will try to keep a couple deer antlers on hand - the two that their Aunt Sis brought back from Colorado are still being nawed on and otherwise enjoyed by the Beaglebratz. They never get rawhide chews or bones - I have heard of to many bad experiences and besides - there are enough treats I like for them readily available.
IF anyone has any other ideas to control Shasta's toofer problem, just leave me a comment. Both dogs do love the little mini carrots plus broccoli and cauliflower so they are getting those as well as cottage cheese and regular cheese for added calcium - just not a lot of either since they gain weight so easily. Ok - gotta go for now.

Ugh. Dog teeth problems. I confess that I do not brush my dogs' teeth (I know, shame on me). I keep saying that I will start. Mango's gums bleed a bit sometimes but the dog dentist isn't too worried.
I give the boys a raw meaty bone once per week for chewing and they eat kibble and stuff. Not sure what else can be done.
Hope she is still able to chew OK without those two little teeth.
Mango Momma
I am glad she came out OK. I will also confess that MOM does not brush my teeth (I know bad MOM). But the vet says my teeth are pretty good for a 12 year old. But I do a lot of stick chewing.
Blessings,
Goose
glad you are ok. Mom tries sticking that brush in our mouths all the time

What a coincidence that you're posting about the beagles teeth cleaning just as Kess is going through the same issue. Thanks for sharing your experience.
So glad to hear you're back home again, Shasta! Our Mom tricks us. She buys the Science Diet Oral Care dog food and uses the pieces as treats. We love our "treats" and clean our toofers at the same time!
Well booo. Keep us posted on what you do, because I'm a slacker and Sis will have to have her teeth cleaned because of it. The vet recommended the dental Kong, so I think I'll go order that right this second, since remembering to snag it in my travels isn't working.
Kim, Shiloh'N Shasta....
First: Get better soon, Shasta!! Be the resilient Beagle that we all know you are!! ;)
Second: I do not have any advice on how to control Shasta's "toofer" problem.... Sorry!! :-(
And, third: Rose loves baby carrots, broccoli and cauliflower, too!! Cooked, or raw does not matter to her!! ;op
Love, Raelyn.... And Rose, my BEAUTIFULLY UNIQUE "Mystery Dog"!!
Glad she came out okay! Momma brushes my teeth nightly, but what helps too are Kongs, bones, rough foods like carrots and oats and regular brushing
Dachshund Nola
Glad to hear it went well
