NEED SOME HELP OR THOUGHTS AND POTP

Mom Kim here -
Here is Lord Shiloh this past late summer

...and here he is now

These pictures, some taken today and other times at
various stages of the lesion's development -
they get worse then heal then come back.
Oh - you can't tell but some of the lesions are on different parts of his body-
side, tummy and he has a couple along his spine but
they never have opened into sores.
They do itch a little off and on but
he rarely bothers them.

The vet said it was ringworm and after checking out
I would likely agree EXCEPT
'Ringworm is contagious and Shasta is showing
ABSOLUTELY  no lesions-
the vet put him on an antibiotic and not an anti-fungal and
the vet diagnosed it WITHOUT further testing after
looking at it.
Maybe the vet has seen this enough times to know
when he sees it and
no anti-fungal med is not really needed-
this is the first time I have ever seen it on
ANY of my dogs or my family's.

So-
I am asking if any of you have had experience with
ringworm or do you have any other thoughts?
Yes - Shiloh is still eating and pottying fine.
When he is outside his energy level remains the same

And please
could I get some POTP for my Lord Shiloh?
Thank you.

Poor Shiloh, I hope he heals soon.
Our vet said Jack had it last spring or summer, didn't look anything like that and didn't look so sore. It was one spot on his tail. Nobody else got it.

we once had to use a shampoo with climbazole after Easy came in contact with a dog who was infected. it never showed up on Easy, either it was the shampoo or there was no infection... I cross my paws for Lord Shjiloh and I hope it heals up quickly and without complications... hugs to you all...

Oh that is not so good Shiloh... ringworm is contagious, but generally only by direct skin-skin contact or shared body fluids. (The commonest form in humans is Athlete's Foot and that's why shared swimming pools advise not using when the worm is active). It can also lay dormant. Shasta may not be showing symptoms but it does not necessarily mean the nematodes are not present. For yourself also, it is treble important that you wash your hands and clothing really well and after every contact with Shiloh. Use of a natural shampoo containing tea-tree oil can be very beneficial for clearing the skin - and is much less toxic than many of the medicated shampoos... had the vet not offered something of this type?

Anyhoo, wishing all POTP to you over there from over here! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

I have seen ringworm but on people not dogs. and it looks nothing like what i have seen. i think a second opinion is what i would do.
i can tell you over the counter what works on people. original Noxema cream. rub it in on one and see what it does..of course i don't know how to keep Shiloh from licking it. this is awrful and i am sorry to read this....hugs to all of you.

just looked on line and it says to do a fungal culture...

Sending you all some POTP. I would've asked the vet to do a skin culture just to be sure especially if it is fungal, you will want anti-fungal medication.

We are sending lots of healing vibes and POTP, Shiloh! Our mom and dad have both had ringworm but we never have. They just used the topical over the counter stuffs from the drugstore and it healed right up.

Sometimes Ringworm in HUMANS can come from eating undercooked PORK and in Dogs cats and people it can come from contact with Chicken or OTHER BIRD...droppings/Poops.
It is a FUNGUS... not an actual WORM...
We see that you have Plenty of suggestions... but the DORMANT thing is important to know... and the WASHING of EVERYTHING... as it CAN be passed from Direct contact animal to people and people BACK to Animals...
as the School nurse used to say... it is not a sin to have it... just a sin to Keep it... parents used to Panic and CRY.. and be so embarrassed.. no need for THAT...
POTP coming your way.

Aw, poor Shiloh. We hope he will be through this soon. It has to be frustrating to be given a diagnosis that seems confusing to someone not familiar with it.

Oh dears! I thinks that you needs to have it scraped and looked at under the microscope...I can't believes they didn't do that there at the time...it's easy peasy and not expensive, I would gets them to do that, so you know whether it's fungal or not. Sendin' tons of POTP and healin' vibes!!!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥

We don't know much about ringworm either, but we suggest a second opinion or at the very least an analysis of a scraping. Do be careful about washing those hands. You especially don't want to have that get in your eyes. All paws crossed for Shiloh.

I am sending POTP , ,
A few years back,,,,my furs were not very thick,, they were falling out,, and the dr put me under a PURPLE LIGHT,, and saw ringworm.
So I had to have special anti fungal baths., and lotions, and antibiotics,,, and then finally it went away.
I never had any leisons,,, I just looked naked.
