Friday Furrendz - Guest Post - Alasandra, The Cats & Dogs

Today we will hear frum Tuiren

I am very honored that Team Beaglebratz asked me to do a guest post for their bloggy. I asked if it would be OK to post about a subject very near and dear to my heart and they were very enthusiastic about helping me spread the word about how important it is to prevent heartworms.

Most of you know that I am a Heartworm Disease Survivor, so this is an issue very dear to my heart and it affects dogs and cats.

The American Heartworm Society has information every pet guardian should be aware of.

Heartworm disease has been reported in all 50 states. I live in one of the areas with the most cases of heartworm disease reported.

What Are the Signs of Heartworm Disease?

For both dogs and cats, clinical signs of heartworm disease may not be recognized in the early stages, as the number of heartworms in an animal tends to accumulate gradually over a period of months and sometimes years and after repeated mosquito bites.

Recently infected dogs may exhibit no signs of the disease, while heavily infected dogs may eventually show clinical signs, including a mild, persistent cough, reluctance to move or exercise, fatigue after only moderate exercise, reduced appetite and weight loss.
When I found Mommy I was already showing clinical signs, I had a mild persistent cough and I seemed very tired (Mommy thought I was a really OLD dog).

Cats may exhibit clinical signs that are very non-specific, mimicking many other feline diseases. Chronic clinical signs include vomiting, gagging, difficulty or rapid breathing, lethargy and weight loss. Signs associated with the first stage of heartworm disease, when the heartworms enter a blood vessel and are carried to the pulmonary arteries, are often mistaken for feline asthma or allergic bronchitis, when in fact they are actually due to a syndrome newly defined as Heartworm Associated Respiratory Disease (HARD).
I was lucky in that they have a treatment for doggies, currently there is no treatment for cats.

Currently, there are no products in the United States approved for the treatment of heartworm infection in cats. Cats have proven to be more resistant hosts to heartworm than dogs, and often appear to be able to rid themselves of infection spontaneously. Unfortunately, many cats tend to react severely to the dead worms as they are being cleared by the body, and this can result in a shock reaction, a life-threatening situation. Veterinarians will often attempt to treat an infected cat with supportive therapy measures to minimize this reaction; however it is always best to prevent the disease.

There are heartworm preventives for both doggies and cats and I sincerely hope that you give your dog or cat one every month, all year.  It is very important that you not skip the winter months especially if you live in a warm area like I do.

Furrendz on Friday - Guest post - The Great'n Powerful Oz the Terrier

Today I, the great and powerful Oz the Terrier, am going to give you a quick lesson in How to Write a Limerick.

First, you must understand how to arrange your limerick in meter (rhythm) and rhyme (rhyme).  The standard form is a stanza (poem) of 5 lines with the first, second and fifth lines rhyming with each other in three feet of three syllables while the third and fourth lines rhyme different than the others and are two feet of three syllables.  Got it?

Probably not.  Neither do I...I just know how to write the darn things.  Anyway, the rhyme scheme is AABBA - all As rhyme and all Bs rhyme.  Easy enough.

The meter however, is a bit harder (and sometimes I toss the meter to the wind because I hate being constrained on a literary leash, so to speak).   It is an accented pattern of double weakly stressed syllables.  Still no help, right?  I know...I hate meter.

Basically the meter is:
1  dah-DUT-dah-dah-DUT-dah-dah-DUT
2  dah-DUT-dah-dah-DUT-dah-dah-DUT
3  dah-DUT-dah-dah-DUT
4  dah-DUT-dah-dah-DUT
5  dah-DUT-dah-dah-DUT-dah-dah-DUT

Now that we know the rhyme and the meter, we need to find a friend of which we can ridicule in verse...humorously or even rudely.  I think we can all agree the best limericks are funny and maybe a little rude (or crude...or lewd...or nude...you get the idea).

NOTE:  Though you may be tempted to start your limerick with "There once was a man/woman/dog/cat/etc from Nantucket", don't.  All the good rhymes for that have already been written.

OK...so now you should be ready to write your very own limerick.  I have taken the liberty to write one for Shiloh and Shasta since this is my guest post for them.

A Limerick for Team Beaglebratz
by Oz the Terrier

There were Shiloh and Shasta the Beaglebratz Team
Who got a lofty idea and started to scheme.
Their plan is quite loopy,
To be a novelist like Snoopy,
By writing 1,000 blog posts by the end of 2014.

CHALLENGE to Shiloh and Shasta:  For one of your 1,000 posts, write a limerick using the process in this post.  You can write it about anyone (except if they are from Nantucket).

CHALLENGE #2 to everyone leaving a comment:  Can you leave your comment in the form of a limerick?  Even a bad one?  (And for Frankie & Ernie, no two lines of a limerick and giving up!  I know you CAN write a limerick!)

Furrendz on Friday - Guest Blogger - JAN'S FUNNY FARM

The Blogville Delicatessen

Guest post by the Funny Farmers - Merci, Cyndi, Percy, Cameron, Buddy, Rusty, Sam, Micah and Marcus

http://jansfunnyfarm.blogspot.com/

Rusty:  We are all excited to have an opportunity to guest post on Shiloh and Shasta's blog.

Micah:  Yes, our friends Frankie and Ernie already did a guest post and they mentioned that these fun bloggers are open to more guests, so we ran right over.

Cameron:  Well, we didn't actually run, Micah.  It's too hot and humid to run all that way.  We just raced to the computer to access the Blogville innernest.

Merci:  I think you mean the Blogville innernets, Cameron.  We need a subject, a theme.  Any of you have an idea?

Marcus:  You're right.  We could post on my obsession with playing soccer.  Or we could talk about how pretty dirt is and how good it tastes.

Cyndi:  You just covered both topics in two sentences, Marcus.  We need something interesting.

Buddy:  We could tell their readers how much we love Blogville. Team Beaglebratz, Frankie & Ernie and their cousin Sarge, Amber, Puddles (where are you, Puddles?), We Three Pugs -

Percy:   I believe it's Three Little Pugs, not We Three Pugs, with Stella Rose Long, Angus McConnel and Margaret Mae.    We can't begin to name all the residents, but they're a great bunch and we're proud to be a part of it.

Sam:  A great community with it's own Mayor Madi, law enforcement team, fire hose (they do have a fire hose and a truck to put it on, don't they?),  a delicatessen -

Percy:  Wait!  Blogville does not have its own delicatessen.  Not as far as I know.  Don't you woofies ever think of anything besides food?

Sam:  Occasionally.  But thinking of food is a great pastime. There's ham, chicken, beef, real live dead shrimp (not that we ever get any!), eggs, stuffies -

Rusty:  Whoa!  Just because you and Marcus have eaten stuffies, that doesn't make them a food group.

Buddy:  I think readers will get the idea.  Blogville is a great place and has lots of fun characters living there.  Let's thank the Beaglebratz for inviting us over.  It's been fun.  Well, it's been fun for us, anyway.  I haven't heard a word out of them.  Guess they're shy.

Cyndi:  Or perhaps we talk too much and they couldn't get a word in edgewise?

Merci:  Actually, I think our chatter lulled them to sleep.  I hope all of Blogville isn't snoring.  Let's just tiptoe out the door.

         +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Friday Furrendz - Guest post frum EASY the silvermistygrey Weisenheimer

Diva Shasta and Prince Shiloh have a great goal: to publish 1000 posts.  I thought I can reach them my silvermistygrey paw for help and I wrote a guest-post. It's about Beagles, of course, here we go:

BEAGLES

.

.

were invented in the United Kingdom. That means they always have style and class and the bestest table manners. The origin of the name Beagle is unexplained. Some researchers say it comes from the french word BEGUEULE what means bigmouth. I think thats crap. They got their name because they fly over the fields when they hunt as a pack like eagles and because there still was an animal with that name, they just added a "B" so they became B-eagles.
The B-eagles are hunting dogs of group 6, the Hound Group and they are fabulous hunters with a good sense of purpose and endurance. That means if you hunt with a B-eagle pack for rabbits the hunt is not over before the B-eagles say it's over. So you have to have a lot of endurance and a sense of purpose too or you better stay at home.
.

B-eagles are not only famous hunting dogs, there were a lot of B-eagles what became famous and who's name the whole world knows. Here are 3 of them:

.

THE B-eagles:

four dogs from Liverpool who became famous with hits like "A Hunt Day's Night", "Dig it", "Fried as a Bird" or "Roll over Bed open". They conquered the world in zilch and all dogs, even cats! copied their hairstyle called the "mop-top" and by now they were the only band who hold all of the top five spots on the billboard charts at once.

Eddie, the B-eagle:

the first Ski Jumper who started at the Owlympics for the UK. He got  the 58th place at the Owlympics in Oberstorf with ginormous 73,5 meters what was the british record in 1987. From all 58 atlethes there  he was the most popular ski jumper  who carried the audience what screamed his name and who were always over the top for Eddie the B-eagle.

SNOOPY the B-eagle

Let's face it, Snoopy is legend. He is the one who made the comics famous. What are The Peanuts without Snoopy? Ok, I would prefer them without Lucy, because she is a mean brat, but without Snoopy? Never!

Snoopy sleeps on the roof of his dog house and he even has a flying machine ( like Diva Shasta!) and he also is  a famous tennis player, plays baseball as short stop, a B-eagle scout, an astronaut and an accordeon player... oh and he loves pizza! So I think Snoopy is THE B-eagle.

And there are a lot more of famous B-eagles: The B-eagle Brothers, guys I love your criminal minds!,  Gromit with his sidekick Wallace, Odie, you aren't an idiot, buddy, you are just misunderstood, Poochie of the Itchy&Scratchy Show, Underdog, Mr. Peabody, Brains, without him that Inspector Gadget wouldn't solve only one case, Lou, Fleegle, Shasta and Shiloh, Porthos, Buddy, Toby, Bagel or Shoeshine. Even the NASA had a B-eagle once, what was a landing craft for  Mars. This B-eagle is still on planet Mars, he probably discovered an interesting sniff there...

Now you know that B-eagles are famous and important. And if you will meet a B-eagle once, just ask him for an autograph, its probably a Celeb-eagle or a VIB (very important B-eagle).
.

Is your breed famous too? Ask the d-oogle or the silvermistygrey Weisenheimer aka MOI to find it out  :o)

(Just a quik note frum Team Beaglebratz-
we wanted tue send a "BIGMOUTH" thank-u tue
Easy the silvermistygrey Weisenheimer)

We almost furgot - we like Easy'z guest post so much we iz sharin'it with
