We Remember and Give Thanks
First known as Decoration Day,
the day was not known as
Memorial Day until
after World War ll.
My dad retired from the Navy,
my brother is retired Air Force and
his wife is in the National Guard.
My mom retired from the
Veterans Administration
Medical Center.
I have worked at the same
Veterans Medical Center for
over 25 years-
So you could say that
in some way,
either directly or indirectly,
this is a
military connected family.
I have a great respect for
all they do for us.
And that goes for our
canine world as well
And I found this about
Team Beaglebratz would
like to give a big
THANK YOU
to all members,
2 and 4 legged,
of our military.

HAPPEE FRANKIE FURTER FRIDAY !!!
We Beaglebratz r
joinin'with the rest of Blogville tu celebrate an'honor a furry much
impawtent an'furry much bizy doggy who also happenz tu b Blogville'z own
mayor-
Our mom furst started this blog back in 2008 BUTT wood hardly post much of ANYTHING an'didn't git any commentz. It wuz not 'til October of 2009 (yea we know mom - the truth hurtz sumtimez) that she really turned the blog over tu us Beaglebratz an'it haz growed bit by bit since then AN'it wuz Mayor Frankie Furter who wuz our furst commentor - only then it wuz just Frankie Furter cuz Blogville didn't haf a mayor yet. He haz remained furry much steadfast in commentin'here an'him an'hiz mom haf been there (here) with commentz of support an'concern whenever our mom haz truble with her eyez.
It'z kind of a weird coinsidense when Mayor Frankie took on a new responsibility - also durin'the month of October, only this wuz just last year, in 2011. We're talkin'boutz when he got hiz OWN puppy - Ernie. Yepperz, Mayor Frankie haz ben there with Ernie every pawprint on the way thru puppyhood. So b-sides all the support an'concern he showz here in Blogville, bein'an ambassadog in hiz community an'where-ever he goez, he received an award fur a role he had in a stage producshun an'most impawtently he haz a MAJOR role in the livez of hiz human family an'iz a big bruther tu little Ernie. Mayor Frankie Furter - we Beaglebratz salute you!

A New Star in the Heavens Tonite - plus a reminder
Back in October of 2010, I first brought you the story of Wilf and his
family – Wilf, the Polish Lowland Sheepdog and his mom and dad –
“the font” and Angus who live in France. Wilf’s younger brother Digby
had succumbed just a few months earlier that same year to
tick born piroplasmosis and in October of 2010 Wilf had just been diagnosed with cancer that eventually led to his blindness. The family was told that he MIGHT have a week but probably just a few short days – yes, over a year and a half ago. That discrepancy is a big fault with doctors sometimes, both human andpets – they don’t always take into account the will to live and in Wilf’s case, the strong bond of love and trust between a dog and his owners.

Tonight there will be a new star in the heavens – I learned this
morning that sweet Wilf, a cuddly looking polar bear type, had finally
come to the end of his struggle – and what a magnificent fight it had
been too. There are those few pet owners who upon learning their dog
has a dreaded terminal illness, feel they can no longer stand having
their four-legged family member around but thank goodness, Angus and
the font were not this type of owner – no, they stood by Wilf day and
night, doing whatever it took to guarantee Wilf the life he so loved.
And Wilf returned that favor as long as his body would allow.

The Beaglebratz asked me to leave you with this reminder - they have entered Sarge's Name Game and it ends TONITE - MIDNITE! Please see our PREVIOUS POST for a list of their nicknames then choose your fav and leave a comment saying what that fav is. Thank you.

UPDATE - kinda short
First - the vet did call me earlier this afternoon, about 1:30, to let me know that Shasta was done with her teeth cleaning and now awake - doing fine HOWEVER (why do they always throw that word in the way) he had to pull two of her smaller teeth and due to the condition of her teeth (bad) and there were a few teeth a little loose, she would probably need a good teeth cleaning on a more regular basis. When I picked her up he told me she did have a little gum disease - due to excess tarter, the gums had receded in spots which had helped loosen the teeth. He did say that she did really well, no problems with the anesthesia and didn't have any problems waking up.
So I will be making more of an effort to brush her teeth and also switching to only biscuits or crunchy-type treats and those that are healthy or organic. The treats that are more soft are out except for those healthy training treats that are small. The B-bratz are already eating a good quality kibble - we are in the process of switching back to Castor and Pollux since Taste of the Wild is on the recall list. And of course I will try to keep a couple deer antlers on hand - the two that their Aunt Sis brought back from Colorado are still being nawed on and otherwise enjoyed by the Beaglebratz. They never get rawhide chews or bones - I have heard of to many bad experiences and besides - there are enough treats I like for them readily available.
IF anyone has any other ideas to control Shasta's toofer problem, just leave me a comment. Both dogs do love the little mini carrots plus broccoli and cauliflower so they are getting those as well as cottage cheese and regular cheese for added calcium - just not a lot of either since they gain weight so easily. Ok - gotta go for now.

The next 20 hours are gonna be loooooooooong
Within a few short minutes after I got home from work, the dogs were fed and outside because me and Shasta would be leaving in less than an hour to get to the vet before 6pm. Slight problem - as we went out to catch our ride, for some reason I had decided to just put Shasta's collar on her and NOT her harness too.
Make a long story short - she wanted to go a different direction than I did and slipped her collar (and our bus was waiting) But thank goodness she is not Shiloh - she did trot away from me but she stayed near the neighbor's house (next to mine) plus she appreciates a good biscuit so she was caught in no time at all, we made our bus and she got to the vet to spend the nite before her teeth cleaning tomorrow. Our vet will call me when finished and she wakes up. Then my sis will come by after work and we will go pick her up.
I forgot tho about Shiloh - he saw us leave with
the crate in tow however when I got home with the crate, it was empty. The last time i went somewhere and came back without the dog I left with was when I took Angel Oreo to the vet for his journey across the Rainbow Bridge - Shiloh was with us. I hope he doesn't remember that - he has been a little more subdued tonite and I have paid him a little more attention and given him some mini-Milkbones - he likes it when I throw some out in the yard and he has to "hunt" them. And they are small enough that Shiloh won't get fat.
Ok - need to get this posted and go get some clothes out of the dryer. I will try to post as soon as I can after we get home tomorrow evening.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
Our mom iz just the grrrrrrreatest - at leest tu us - just this mornin'she added sum cottage cheeze an'bitz of punkin'muffin tu our kibble. We know there wuz a tablet mixed in tu BUTT we know she duz that so we can feel better an'that'z what a mom duz. She'z ALWAYZ addin'sum little x-tra tidbit tu our kibble. She uzez sum of her own green paperz tu buy us stuffiez an'treatz. Sum of the food she buyz iz just so she can share it with us. We know there r thingz we wanna du like go wanderin'thru the neighberhood BUTT she won't let us cuz we mite git hurt or worse. An'even tho we mite take up tu much room, she will share her own bed with us.
So we Beaglebratz wanted tu du sumthin'speshal fer our mom fer Mother's Day BUTT what?
MAY-B we cood give her sum perfoome->
Shasta wanted tu git her sum Shasta Daiziez->
OR what 'boutz sum chokolatez->
Then we thought, we cood treat her tu a super nise dinner out at one of them resta-rantz AN'she woodn't haf tu share with us->
BUTT any of that takez sum of them green paperz an'we Beaglebratz don't haf none. So we thought really loooooooong an'hard 'boutz it - whatever cood we du?
We cood give her one of our antler chewz
(kinda uzed BUTT still in one peese)
OR what 'boutz one of our toyz->

An'THEN we figured it out - mom LOVEZ spendin'time with us - so THAT iz what we gave our mom fer Mother's Day->

Second post today - A little concern here - some POTP neede?
My Diva Queen Shasta is going to the dentist (vet) tomorrow for her dental cleaning (needed it for some time). I know this is a common and often a daily procedure sometimes for vets, any time a dog of mine goes under anesthesia for ANY reason and for ANY length of time then I worry. I'm a habitual worrier anyway so it doesn't take much. Somehow tomorrow I will have to focus on my work after being away from it today - in training. I will try to update you all early tomorrow evening. Anyway, I know there are a lot more major needs for POTP out there but sure would appreciate a bit of it for Diva Queen Shasta.
Thank-you
~Kim~
PS - the really hard part will come in the
morning at breakfast-
NOT feeding a Beagle and
trying to put off feeding the other until
just before me & Shasta leave.

LATE Mom on Monday (maybe Tuesday) Handbook for us humans'n other good words
These
are things a friend at work has shared with me - in the old blogger I
had it scheduled to post in June however since all that scheduling stuff
seems to be non-existent now, I figured I'd go ahead and post it now.
Altho in order to actually post it LIVE - I had to copy it into a new
post THEN post it to go llve. And I wonder why I am soooo frustrated
and why I'm not here that much. And sometimes, when I or the
Beaglebratz try to coment on something, blogger loses it for us.

Oliver Wendell Holmes
“When we choose not to focus on what’s missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that’s present . . .

then we experience heaven on earth.”
Then I added some thoughts of my own -
I have figured out – when we talk about how our dogs live one day at a time …
then this is what their lives must be like. Because they are not
focused on what they don’t have but rather they already have their
abundance – what they desire – love, understanding, adequate food
& water & maybe a belly-rub now & then.

Our Review for VetDepot.com
The mom here but I did get some help from the Beaglebratz for this review-they (Shiloh the bully) helped with the "modeling".
About 2 weeks ago I first got an email from Kim Chambers at VetDepot asking me if I would be interested in doing a review for their website and in exchange I could choose one of their products to use. Ok - as you all know, I'm WE are not new at doing these reviews in exchange for testing products and in a way, I'm sort of honored when Team Beaglebratz is chosen for this - so why am I still a skeptic? Well luckily for the Beaglebratz, that skepticism did not last - WE read another review over at Feisty Three
so I talked it over with the Beaglebratz and of course they said go for it - so we did. Then when I saw that one of the products I could choose was Cosequin I just had to try it for the Beaglebratz. I had been watching them race around the livingroom, chasing each other and
knowing that Shiloh has already had problems with Intervertebral Disk Disease and then Shasta being his actual niece, I wanted to do what I could to make sure they are able to keep that behavior as long as possible.
So, on April 19th, I emailed Kim at VetDepot my selection - she emailed me on April 20th to let me know that the Cosequin I chose had been shipped and I kid you not, on April 23rd, when I opened my mailbox-
Talk about being surprised. And you know that
Shiloh had to check it out
But as usual, he was not

But as usual, he was not
impressed by
what he thought was
just paper - but mom knew different. Shiloh thought there was nothing good to eat.
After I gave him one, he decided different. The tablets are easily chewed and he snarfed it down lickity-split. The Queen Diva Shasta had to have hers with some peanut butter but she too, thought it was a good treat. I thought I had a picture of Shasta but evidently not - she tries to avoid things like this when Shiloh the bully is near.
Ok, I was impressed with how quickly I received my order but whenI WE checked out their website, WE were also impressed with all of the different types of pets they have supplies for. Of course they carry your usual doggy and kitty vitamins and other supplements, both prescription and non prescription meds and flea and tick treatments plus other supplies too numerous to mention. However, they do not stop there but also stock things for small pets such as hamsters, gerbils and others - yes, even lizards then there are the fish supplies and livestock too. Not just the medications and feed but things like hamster or gerbil habitats and aquariums for your fish or lizards. If I gave an example of EVERYTHING they have, I would be here for HOURS or more (and the Beaglebratz would think I had abandoned them). So I think the BEST thing for you to do - go check out ->
