Just a note for now............

Mom Kim here -

Me and Shasta are still around and slowly working thru Angel Shiloh's trip to the Rainbow Bridge - I still can't believe he is gone.  I think some of the hardest things to try to wrap my brain around is how does a dog, who was first diagnosed with Ringworm then found to have a severe bacterial infection end up having to be euthanized because of widespread cancer - all within 5 weeks.  I first saw what I think now was excessive thirst several months ago but I tricked myself into a false sense of belief when I reasoned that Angel Shiloh was the largest dog I had ever owned and therefore he would drink more than I am use to seeing.

I have also been reading
A Vet Shares 10 Warning Signs of Cancer in Your Dog
which mentions the non-healing skin lesions that Angel Shiloh had a few of - I don't take full responsibility since I did point them out whenever we did see the vet.

Since Lady Shasta is related by blood to Angel Shiloh (he was her uncle) and is a senior, she will likely be closely monitored like I will be taking her in to the vet within a month to have her blood tests and see if we can figure out why her breath still smells bad even after her dental cleaning-teeth pulling just earlier last month.

I think I am just rambling now really.  The blog will remain Team Beaglebratz - Angel Shiloh will ALWAYS be a part of me.  However, and as it should be, Lady Shasta will now be the key player - she has never really had the attention Angel Shiloh had, even when it was just him and Angel Oreo - Angel Shiloh got a LOT of individual attention.  When Lady Shasta joined the family it was all 3 of them until Angel Oreo went to the Bridge in February of 2007.  Lady Shasta is doing well for the most part altho today was the first time since before Angel Shiloh crossed the Bridge that she has been out to the back fence and around the forsythia bush - even now I had to bribe her back there with some treats.

Ok - before I completely bore you with my rambling I will stop so I can publish this now - Angel Shiloh will be coming home to me tomorrow - I had him cremated; he will sit on the shelf beside Angel Oreo.  I do NEED to THANK YOU all for all of your support, prayers, POTP and comments of sympathy and more prayers thru this entire ordeal - I have never been thru something like this.

When things start feeling like the walls are closing in (and they will), just sit back and think only about the good times and the good memories. They will get you through the hard times and maybe even help you to smile again.

It is never easy to understand the "why" and "how". We lost Thunder 10 days after he decided one day he didn't want to eat. He had never been sick, never showed any signs of illness, and yet there he was, full of cancer. We still miss him terrible and we don't understand why or how, but we try to remember all the wonderful and happy memories he left with us. We know you have many of those wonderful and happy memories of Shiloh too. Hugs to you.

Please don't try to understand the 'why' and 'how' it'll only hurt you more. Instead try and remember the good times and the wonderful memories you have, easier to say than do at the moment I know. Sending you warm hugs and luffs, wish I had the words to help you through this
Lots of loves and licky kisses

Sometimes life just isn't clear or fair and medical science still has a lot to learn. May you find peace at this difficult time.

Our family has been through this also Kim and it can be heartbreaking, sometimes I would be going along, just fine, and then I would cry..I use to get up in the middle of the night and wonder around, and cry.....it takes time, and it hurts. After Sammy died in a blink of an eye stella rose also had to figure out how to live without him, but in our case we went back to the stinking puppy mill and brought another survivor home with us, and then another. We never forgot about Sammy or Trudie, but we found it helped us by loving others. You will find the road that works for you. Hugs and Love stella rose's momma

Gizmo went to the bridge at age 6 just 2 weeks after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma. Bart, his littermate, lived to the ripe old age of 10. Lady Shasta has a wonderful life ahead of her with you. Also, Bart, who was always in Gizmo's shadow, really enjoyed being in the limelight. Sending hugs and rottie kisses to you and to Shasta...

Some things just do not make sense,, and this is one of them.
You did everything right,, you tried to find the answers,,,
There is a hole in your world right now,, and we hope its filled with caring friends.
Tomorrow when Angel Shiloh, it will be an emotional day.. But he will be home where he belongs,,,surrounded by those who love him.
He will know it.
Thank you for sharing Angel Shiloh with all of us

Kim, please remember you gave Shiloh your best - and your love! Even if the cancer had been detected sooner, there may well have been nothing you could have done for him. Sometimes, it just doesn't make sense.
Sending hugs to you and to Shasta!

We have a special place for the ashes of our angels Miss Ginger and Miss Charisma on the shelf surrounded by ghostwriter's collection of cocker spaniel statues and toys. They are always in our hearts and we cry even years after their loss. Try to remember the good times and be certain Shiloh is wagging his tail up in heaven thinking about them too!
